AUGUST
TOUR EVENT BACK TO 200 LAPS
Riverhead Raceway owners and
operators Barbara and Jim Cromarty announced today that the August 6th
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will go back to being a 200-lap event at the
quarter mile oval.
After the June Miller Lite 150 the Cromarty’s seeing that 52 of 150
laps were run under caution decided going back to the original 200-lap
format would be the way to go, “we want to give our fans along with the
fans of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour more bang for their buck” the
husband and wife promotional team indicated. “The Miller Lite 150 was an
exciting race but drivers with 50-fewer laps to work their way to the
front might have gotten a little impatient causing the cautions”
Ted Christopher won the Miller Lite 150 in an exciting late race
battle with Eric Beers and Donny Lia for his second career win at the
quarter mile oval. Ted’s first win came in a 200-lap race a couple of
seasons back and anybody who knows this diehard racer knows that “TC”
will race 150, 200 or 500 laps given the opportunity.
