BUS RACE
HIGHLIGHTS DODGE NIGHT
Dodge, the title sponsor for
the rich NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series will step into the spotlight at
Barbara and Jim Cromarty’s Riverhead Raceway Saturday night July 9th as
it will be Dodge night. A Full Size School bus race will join the cars
and stars of the NASCAR stock cars.
All feature event winners will take home a handsome Dodge trophy for
their efforts with the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Blunderbusts and
Super Pro Trucks all in action. The Modifieds will go 35-laps, while the
Late Models will battle for 25-laps on Safelite Auto Glass night.
Safelite serves as a 2005 seasonal sponsor for the class. The
Blunderbust and Super Pro Truck feature events are slated to be 20-lap
events.
The first of four Saturday night Enduro races will be presented on
Dodge night as well. The Grand Enduro division will strut their stuff in
front of the NASCAR crowd. Ray Fitzgerald of Manorville and Bob Pease of
Medford have won the two Grand Enduro races to date and both are looking
for a repeat victory.
After the oval racing has been completed the huge Full Size School
Buses will take to the Figure Eight course for a wild and wooly race. In
May Luke Eddy of East Hampton took home the gold in an event that saw
crowd favorite “Slim” Jim Donaldson roll his full size bus. Jim did
re-fire the bus in an attempt to continue the race but the bus conked
out on him.
It’s going to be another fun filled Saturday night in the heart of
summer at Riverhead Raceway with qualifying at 4:00 pm and feature
racing at 6:00 pm. For more information please dial 631-842-RACE or
