DIVERSIFIED RACE PROGRAM SET FOR JULY 16

If you believe the old saying “variety is the spice of life” then Saturday night July 16th is for you at Riverhead Raceway.   This will be a perfect combination of NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series action and family entertainment will combine.
A “night of thrills” including a Car Rollover Contest and a Train Race on the Figure Eight course will join the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models and Chargers on the card. Throw in a 4/6-Cylinder Truck race and you have something for everyone in what promises to be a fast paced and action packed program. The NASCAR Modifieds will compete in a 35-lap main event while the Late Models will go 25-circuits and the Chargers 20-laps.
Then the daredevils who put their lives on the line in the Car Rollover Contest will get their crack at the ramp to see who can score the most points and provide the wildest flip. Cars hit the ramp with their right side tires and if they land on the driver’s door it’s one point, on the roof it’s two, passenger door three points and a complete roll is worth five points. Points continue to add up if a driver rolls more than once in an attempt.
The Train Race, which has quickly become a popular race with competitors and fans alike features three cars chained together right up against each other. The first car has an operating motor but no brakes and of course a driver. The middle car is shut off and has no driver, while the caboose car has a driver but the engine is shut off and it is that car that must slow the train down for the corners or to avoid disaster at the “X”.
It’s a virtual racing buffet Saturday night July 16th at Riverhead Raceway with qualifying at 4:00 pm and feature racing at 6:00 pm. Call 631-842-RACE for further information or click onto www.riverheadraceway.com
