BLINDFOLD
TAXI CAB RACE COMING AUGUST 13
A new and wild event is
debuting at Riverhead Raceway on Saturday August 13th as Barbara and Jim
Cromarty present a Blindfold Taxi-Cab race along with a 4-Cylinder
Demolition Derby. A full card of NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series action will
compliment the night’s Craftsman Tool card.
The 2005 championship fight in all divisions is hitting the
homestretch with the NASCAR Modifieds ready for a 35-lap contest, while
the Figure Eight troops run their third and final 25-lap double point
race of ’05. The Chargers will run a regular 20-lap race, but it will
carry double points. The Late Models and Super Pro Trucks will round out
the racing portion of the show, with the Late Models racing for the
Amity Nissan Superstore night trophy
In the Blindfold Taxi-Cab race the driver of the cab will be
blindfolded with the passenger the navigator for the two-person team,
which should give the race some wild twists and turns on the quarter
mile oval. If this new race wasn’t enough entertainment, the night will
conclude with the season’s second 4-Cylinder Demolition Derby. The
compact cars and stars thrilled race fans back on Memorial Day weekend
with Tim “Hammer” Smith of Pt. Jefferson outlasting Bob “Whiplash”
Genovese of Farmingdale and “Irish” Mike O’Keefe of Manville in a three
way duel.
Qualifying will start at 4:00 pm with time trials for the Chargers
with heat races to follow and the feature events will start at 6:00 pm.
