$1,500 TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DEMO SET
The best of the best car wreckers in the world of are
expected to converge on Riverhead Raceway this Saturday night
September 17th for the National Demolition Derby Championship.
The $1,500 payday on Miller Lite night and the right to call
yourself the National Demolition Derby Champion will provide all
the motivation needed for a hard hitting fight to the finish.
The top guns from Long Island will be loaded for bear
including Bob “Whiplash” Genovese of Farmingdale in his famed
#444 as well as Jimmy “Wildman Primmy” Hummel of Bay Shore in
his #51 entry. Also ready for action will be “Irish” Mike
O’Keefe of Manorville, “Slim” Jim Donaldson of Shirley, Alex
Ilchert of West Islip and Tim “Hammer” Smith of Port Jefferson.
Former Demolition Derby standout “Long” John Silver of Wantagh
has hinted he also might seek the 2005 National Demolition Derby
title and the $1,500 that goes with it.
Among the invading drivers from out of state looking to take
some Long Island money home with them are Jim Mann of Raynham,
Ma, Steve Rossicks of Brick, N.J., Scott McNamee of Raleigh,
N.C. and Bob Anderson of Raynham, Ma. Just to name four.
Aside from the National Demolition Derby Championship, a
Full Size School Bus Demolition Derby will be on the card and
this event has proven to be very entertaining for young and
older fans alike.
The Late Models, Chargers and Blunderbusts will all run
50-lap feature events with time trials qualifying and no track
points. The Super Pro Trucks will run their final 20-lap main
event of 2005 and that is a points paying race.
Time trials will kick things off at 4:00 pm and the feature
event racing starts at 6:00 pm for what promises to be a
hard-hitting night of thrills and spills.
