John Heather
by Sheryl Heather

John S. Heather was born on June 27th, 1943, raised in East Moriches and graduated from Eastport High School. He retired as a Sergeant from the Suffolk County Police Department in 1986, and was the owner of Spring & Summer Activities in Hampton Bays. John would have liked to be best remembered by his enthusiasm for life, his love of friends and family, and his strong faith. He was an usher at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Westhampton Beach, participated in many local charities and was a past President of the Lions Club of the Moriches.

An auto racing fan since childhood, he owned stock cars for many years and took great pride in the team’s 3 NASCAR Late-Model Division Championships at Riverhead Raceway.  He was an accomplished woodworker and collector of antique woodworking tools, an avid reader and a crossword puzzle enthusiast.
