Tom Kulesa
by Scott Kulesa
Tom Kulesa was first introduced to racing when he began
attending Riverhead Raceway as a fan when he was 10 years old.
He always enjoyed working on cars and was very interested in
what made them work and go fast. Tom spent 2 years in the
Figure Eight division as a driver and was able to tally a number
of wins and a championship. He also spent time racing in the
Modified division at Riverhead and Islip Speedways, with visits
to Middletown's Orange County Speedway and Wall Stadium as well.
Later in life Tom became the crew chief for his son Scott's
racing efforts. Scott started in go karts when he was 12 years
old and then moved to the Legends and finally the Late Model
division. Tom spent many hours working on the cars to make them
fast and took great pride in all the accomplishments that he was
able to achieve with his son, especially the Late Model
championship in 2002. He made many great friends through racing
as a driver, crew chief, and avid spectator.
Lastly, Tom Kulesa was a great father and husband who would do
anything for his family, no matter what it might be. He was an
extremely honest, caring, and loving person who is deeply missed
by many whose lives he touched.
