Banquet to Highlight Two November Events
Two events in early November will complete activity for 2005
regarding Riverhead Raceway. First will be the NASCAR Dodge
Weekly Series awards banquet on November 5th. The Victory
Celebration will be staged at the Riverhead Polish Club, which
is in the heart of Polish Town, USA.
All eight champions from the 2005 race season will be feted
for their efforts. NASCAR Modified champion Bill Park will lead
the annual “parade of champions”. Park will be joined by Late
Model champion Roger Oxee along with George Sprague from the
Figure Eights, Dan Turbush from the Chargers, Scott Maliszewski
from the Blunderbusts and Lou Maestri of the Super Pro Trucks.
Joining those six NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series champions will
be 2005 Car Rollover champion “Slim” Jim Donaldson and 2005
Train Race kingpin Shawn Wanat.
Tickets are just $35 per person for this affair, which is
always the best party in auto racing no matter where it’s
staged. Tickets must be purchased by October 28th and seating is
limited so Riverhead Raceway officials are strongly suggesting
those wanting to attend the dinner should get their orders in
ASAP!
One week after the banquet will be the annual Long Island
Automotive Swap Shop in the pit area of the quarter mile oval, a
virtual racecar flea market for stock cars, drag cars, go-karts
and all things automotive. The Sunday November 13th Swap Shop
will get started at 9:00 am and run until 5:00 pm with vendor
space just a mere $20 per spot and it’s only $5 for those 6 and
older to come in and browse around.
During the Swap Shop Bill Denniston, Chief Steward at
Riverhead Raceway will be conducting his annual meeting with
Enduro drivers and owners at 2:00 pm. That meeting will take
place rain or shine! The 2006 Enduro race season will open
Sunday afternoon May 7th at Riverhead the day after the NASCAR
Dodge Series stock cars open their campaign on Saturday evening
May 6th.
