Riverhead Pit Crew Challenge November 27th
Behind every successful race team is a hard working pit crew
and on Sunday afternoon November 27th those “behind the scenes
stars” will shine in the 1st annual Riverhead Raceway Pit Crew
Challenge. The contest will be staged at 1:00 pm during the
annual Universal Custom Car Show at the Nassau Veterans Memorial
Coliseum.
Bill Denniston, Chief Steward of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series at Riverhead Raceway came up with this event to showcase
the hard working men and women who keep their drivers on the
track. Each crew will be made up of five members, front and rear
tire carriers, changers and a jack man and the entry fee is $125
per team with the winning team going home with $500. The winning
crew will also take home a handsome trophy.
Denniston will provide all the equipment, from a race car to
all pit equipment. Practice round will be staged Friday and
Saturday at a yet to be announced time in preparation for
Sunday’s finale. The Universal Custom Car Show is a fixture on
Long Island held annually Thanksgiving weekend in the lower
level of the famed sports arena.
Teams should call Bill Denniston or Gina at Trailer
Transport at 516-333-2016 for an entry form with all entries
needing to be in by November 15th. Proceeds from the Riverhead
raceway Pit Crew Challenge will benefit the Eastern Kart Racing
Association
