NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series Crowns 05 Champs
Hazleton, PA -
2005 ABC Car Crushing NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series champions,
Joe "Millionaire" Jentile and Harry "Lift" Sager were officially
crowned Saturday at Lobitz's Hall in Hazleton, PA during the 3rd
annual NEETS banquet ceremony. This was the first 'solo'
banquet for the popular series and a first ever in racing
history for an Enduro class. Past NEETS Awards banquets were
gracefully shared with the Mountain Speedway regular divisional
banquets. The last event being the NEETS Awards banquet was
just the way to end a fantastic season. The cold air, the ice
and snow that fell a mere 48 hours prior didn't stop the 144
dedicated enduro family members. The room was decorated with
Yellow, Silver, White and Black balloons (series colors) and
decorations that only added to the excitement. The cocktail
hour, which lasted approximately an hour and a half, brought us
to series promoter Billy Bartley giving the opening speech of
the evening almost bringing a tear to some.
After dinner,
Billy brought the ceremonies under way starting with plaques for
the 'Top 10 Club'. The awards were presented to every driver
who has finished at least one race this season in the top ten,
which is a feat in itself with 70, 80 or 90 cars in each event.
They were sponsored by Valley Service Equipment Repair and
Bartley Racing Enterprises. A $250 Cash prize was awarded to
the drivers that had the most top ten finishes. Joe Jentile won
the 6/8 cyl division with 7 top tens. The 4cyl division was tied
with Bobby Pease and Harry Sager both having 6 top tens. Awards
were also presented to all of the NEETS officials for their hard
work and dedication throughout the entire season.
Next, all of
the drivers who finished in the top 10 of the point standings
received trophies and cash awards. Joe Jentile and Harry Sager
were also surprised to receive leather embroidered champion
jackets to go along with their gigantic trophies and large cash
prizes. Following the trophy presentation, two drivers names
were pulled in a drawing. Both drivers won a Las Vegas vacation
package, but Robin Vollmoeller and Alex Fletcher chose the
option of $1,000 cash, which was presented, to them on the spot.
All drivers with the minimum amount of registered races in the
2005 season were eligible to win. One of the most prestigious
awards (The Uncle Petey Award) was presented to Howie and Cindy
Bott for their dedication to the NEETS Series since it's
inception,
four years ago. The Uncle Petey award is given annually to the
individual, or individuals who have helped the drivers and
series without hesitation throughout the season.
Mountain
Speedway/NEETS photographer, Joe Cutri was presented with the
2005 Promoters award. This is an award chosen by the series
leader to a non-driver/non-official that has helped make our
series successful in one form or another.
NEETS Promoter
Billy Bartley was also awarded with a plaque of appreciation
from his drivers from this past season.
The plaques,
trophies and prizes were out of this world. The love and
appreciation Billy provided everyone with was phenomenal. It
wasn't BS, it was straight from the heart. It doesn't get any
better than this and the series shows just what good promotion
can do. I am out of words to express just how wonderful he is.
Even with a few stories to add to his words of the evening,
Billy still stayed within the time so no one was cut short on
any open bar time or dancing with music and entertainment
provided by the series own...Dj NEETZ. You can be sure there
will be bigger and better things in the future of this great
series.
The start of
the '06 NEETS season is right around the corner, starting off
Saturday, January 7th with the third annual Drews Enterprises
'Beaters with Heaters'. Along with the mid-winter enduro
action, Santa will be on hand, giving away toys to the boys and
girls in the stands. The race will be held rain, snow or sun and
is one of the most popular events in the series schedule.
