Twin 100s at Thompson, Thursday
Night June 29
Southern New England’s biggest race event of the summer months comes to the
Thompson International Speedway on Thursday, June 29th. Two of NASCAR’s most
exciting touring divisions will be in action in twin 100-lap races. The
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the Busch East, Grand National division will
make up the twin bill of exciting big league racing.
The very best drives in both NASCAR divisions will be on hand
for this unique, same-day, twin bill. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour,
presented by the New England Dodge Dealers, will feature drivers like
current points leader, Ted Christopher, Thompson ICEBREAKER winner, Mike
Stefanik, defending division champion, Tony Hirschman and many, many more.
Leading the charge for the NASCAR Busch East Series,
presented by Pepsi, will be their current points leader, Sean Caisse. He
will be joined by other standouts like Matt Kobyluck, Mike Olsen, Bryon
Chew, Kip Stockwell, Eddie MacDonald and many other talented drivers that
make up the new NASCAR Busch East Touring division.
This event offers fans a rare opportunity to see two of
NASCAR’s best touring divisions in a single night for a price just slightly
more than the cost of seeing only one of these top-notch racing programs.
Add to all this the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series “Super Six” divisions from
Thompson International Speedway and you have a night of intense and exciting
racing. It will also be a great start for the big Fourth of July holiday
weekend.
Fans wishing to enjoy a full day of racing activities will be
happy to know that Thompson’s huge grandstands will open at 12:30 PM.
Practice sessions will be on the track until NASCAR Whelen Modified time
trials get underway at 4:30 PM. Busch East qualifying will follow.
Thompson’s NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series divisions will then roll out for their
feature events.
Start time for the first 100-lap race is set for 7:30 PM when
the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour takes to the track. Once the Whelen
Modifieds have completed their ‘century’ grind, the Busch East cars will
roll out onto the speedway for their 100 trips around the high-banked,
5/8ths mile speedway.
Tickets for this incredible night of NASCAR racing are
available in advance. Fans may call the Thompson International Speedway
track office to secure tickets ahead of time. 860-923-2280. Race fans
seeking more information on this or any of the racing activities at Thompson
International Speedway may check the track’s web site.
