Carl Edwards to Compete in Whelen Modified
Tour at NHIS
You’ve heard of NEXTEL Cup drivers becoming “Buschwackers” by racing in the
Busch Series…well how about “Whelenwackers”. NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series
racing star Carl Edwards has decided to join Tony Stewart by driving a Ford
Mustang Whelen Modified in The New England 100 at New Hampshire
International Speedway on July 15th.
Like Tony, Carl will be driving for a great cause by teaming
with championship Whelen Modified car owner, Don Barker and the builder of
USA Bobsleds, Bob Cuneo to raise funds for the USA Bobsled effort. Carl
realizes that the USA Bobsled team needs proper funding for research and Bo-Dyn
bobsleds to insure they can effectively compete and this effort offers a
great platform to drive exposure and raise donations for the Bo-Dyn Bobsled
Project, Inc.
"We are grateful to Carl, Don and Bob for their generous
offer to support the efforts of the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project” said the
non-profit corporation’s President, Phil Kurze. “The bobsleds used by the
USA Bobsled Team are designed and manufactured in the USA, with donations
received from corporations and citizens. We appreciate all of the exposure
and support we can get.”
“I couldn’t pass this opportunity up,” Carl said. “Not only
will I be helping the USA Bobsled Team, but I’ll get a chance to drive a
fast little Ford Mustang Modified against Tony and all of the Whelen
regulars”.
This one race fund-raiser features a silent auction for fans
to bid on panels from the race car signed by Carl, an authentic Brunnhoelzl
Racing jack painted in USA Bobsled Team colors and much more. There will
also be a limited edition, collector tee shirt and poster for sale at the
track on race day.
