Hossfeld's Busy Schedule Leads to NHIS

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Chuck Hossfeld heads to New Hampshire International Speedway this weekend following a hectic two weeks of racing. Over the course of ten days Chuck raced at six different racetracks in three different states. Now Hossfeld will focus on the New England 100 at NHIS on Saturday, July 15th.
Hossfeld is a two-time winner at NHIS, but this will be his first time behind the wheel of the Hillbilly Enterprises #79 at the Magic Mile. While the North Carolina based Hillbilly Racing team has had many fast cars at NHIS, they have never visited victory lane. Crew Chief David Hill believes
his team has an opportunity to finally break through and score their first NHIS win. “I’m looking forward to this weekend,” says Hill. “We’ve been fast everywhere we’ve been with Chuck this year, the results have been mixed, but there’s no doubt we’re going in the right direction.”
The six races in ten days produced a win for Hossfeld at Spencer Speedway in New York State as well as a pair of top-five finishes in Whelen Southern Modified Tour action in North Carolina. The Whelen Modified Tour races at Thompson and Stafford in Connecticut didn’t have the same fortune. Mid-race accidents in both events stopped what looked to be likely top finishes.
After the 4th of July Stafford race Hossfeld had a lot to be happy about but was disappointed with how it ended. “That’s sure not how I wanted the weekend to end,” said Chuck. “We didn’t have any practice with that car and it was just great. We were one of the fastest cars again but it didn’t work out.” Hossfeld is currently 12th in the tour standing after five races.
Hossfeld will continue to stay busy while in New Hampshire this week, but he ’ll take a little time out of the car. After a practice day on Thursday, Chuck will attend the Governors Breakfast on Friday morning. The breakfast will benefit the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth and David’s House. Nextel Cup driver Kasey Kahne will be the keynote speaker. Hossfeld is looking forward to attending once again this year. “I enjoy this event every year and it supports a great cause. A couple years ago Kyle Petty gave a great speech. I’m very happy to be a part of it.”
