Todd Szegedy Scores First Bud Pole Award Of 2006
At Stafford

    Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield, Conn. earned his first Bud Pole Award of the 2006 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season by setting fast time for Sunday’s Carquest Fall Final at Stafford Motor Speedway. Szegedy, the 2003 series champion, toured the half-mile speedway in 18.091 seconds for an average speed of 99.497 mph.
    Donny Lia of Jericho, N.Y. was second fastest in qualifying with a speed of 98.912 mph. Defending series champion Tony Hirschman of Northampton, Pa. qualified third with a speed of 98.474 mph. Ted Christopher and Chuck Hossfeld rounded out the Top-5 in qualifying.
    The Top-10 qualifiers drew for starting position. Szegedy picked the pole and will be joined on the front row by Tony Hirschman. Eddie Flemke will start third while Lia will start fourth. Christopher, currently second in the series standings, will start 6th. Current series point leader Mike Stefanik will start 7th.
