THREE RIVERHEAD PRE-SEASON INSPECTION DATES
SET IN APRIL
At the
recent Riverhead Raceway informational meetings NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series Chief Steward Bill Denniston announced the annual three
pre-season safety inspection dates were set for Saturday April 1st,
April 8th and April 15th. Any car that plans on racing at the quarter
mile oval in 2006 must go through the safety inspection process before
hitting the track for either practice or actual competition.
Walter Bonczyk who leads the Riverhead Raceway Inspectors will have
his staff on hand for all three dates from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm all
three days. Walter also told teams on the January meetings, “We’ll do as
much as we can in the area of technical inspections, including the
sealing of engines weather permitting. If it’s too cold or damp then we
would be limited in that area”.
The three inspection days are conducted to allow teams to avoid this
process on the two free to the public practice sessions on Saturday
April 22nd and April 29th or worse yet opening night May 6th. JYD
Enterprises, the Hoosier Tire dealer for Long Island will have their
tire compound open all three days for drivers and crew chiefs to
pick-out tires.
Also in another effort to avoid long practice day or opening night
lines NASCAR License applications will be on hand at the back sign-in
booth on all three days.
As in the past the Eastern Kart Racing Association will be
conducting their pre-season practices on April 1st, 8th and 15th and
with that in mind a nominal $5 pit fee will be charged to those entering
the pits for inspection.
