PRACTICE MAKES
PERFECT AT RIVERHEAD RACEWAY
APRIL 22ND & 29TH
Before the first official green
flag of the 2006 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series at Barbara and Jim
Cromarty’s Riverhead Raceway falls on Saturday, May 6th teams will have
two pre-season practice days to get their machines “perfect” for the
season opener. Saturday, April 22nd and April 29th have been set aside
for afternoon warm-ups, which again feature free grandstand admission.
All teams that are ready for the 2006 season will be eagerly
awaiting the pit gate to open at 9:00 a.m. on April 22nd and look
forward to hitting the track at 12 noon to take their first laps of the
year. All six NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series divisions headed-up by the
NASCAR Modifieds will have the track until 4:00 pm with the open wheel
machines joined by the Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers,
Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks.
Once the NASCAR gang is finished with the quarter mile oval the
facility will then be turned over to the Enduro drivers who will have
the track until around 6:00 pm. The Enduro season lid-lifter is set for
Sunday afternoon, May 7th at 12:30 pm, just hours after the NASCAR
opening night festivities. The same format will be in effect for round
two of pre-season testing at Riverhead on Saturday, April 29th.
As is tradition on Long Island the two pre-season practice days will
again find Barbara and Jim Cromarty swinging the spectator gates open
for the general public free of charge for the grandstand area. This is a
wonderful opportunity for race fans to get a sneak preview of the 2006
season and also bring some friends who might be non-race fans out to the
track at no cost to see if they can catch the NASCAR bug.
After all the practice is completed it will be show time on
Saturday, May 6th with a six-division card ringing in the new race year.
Heats races will start at 4:30 pm and main event racing will commence at
6:00 pm. It will be a busy night of NASCAR Modified, Late Model, Figure
Eight, Charger, Blunderbust and Super Pro Truck racing to quench the
long winter’s thirst of race fans.
On Sunday, May 7th it will be an opening day card of Grand Enduro,
8, 6 and 4-Cylinder Enduros along with a 4/6-Cylinder Truck Enduro that
will be joined by a Car Rollover Contest and One-On-One Spectator Drags.
Pit gates will open at 10:00 am on the 7th with racing going green at
12:30 pm.
THE END
