This Saturday was to be the first of two pre-season practice days at Riverhead Raceway but the morning dawned cold and rainy forcing NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series officials to cancel all on track activities.
    Chief Steward Bill Denniston announced that with the wash out this past week the April 29th warm-up day this Saturday would find cars hitting the track at 11:00 am instead of the 12-noon time announced earlier. It is hoped the added hour will allow for an extra round of practice for the six NASCAR divisions of racing. The NASCAR stock cars will run until approximately until 4:00 or 4:30 pm when the quarter mile will then be turned over to the Enduro cars for practice.
    Pit gates will open at 9:00 am this Saturday morning with safety tech inspection to start shortly thereafter and those who have not been checked for safety are urged to arrive early. No car will hit the track without being inspected for safety first.
