THREE DOUBLE
POINT CONTESTS
SET FOR JUNE 3RD AT RIVERHEAD
Saturday night June
3rd is going to be a very important night in the season long
championship chase for three of the five divisions of the NASCAR Dodge
Weekly Series at Riverhead Raceway. The NASCAR Modified, Chargers and
Blunderbusts will all race for double points in extra distance main
events.
The premier division of the weekly schedule at Barbara and Jim
Cromarty’s historic oval remain the NASCAR Modifieds who will race in
their first double point race of 2006. The main event will be 50-laps
and feature time trial qualifying on this night, which in years past was
the first of two races for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
Those looking to use this race as a springboard to the 2006 NASCAR
Modified title will be defending champion Bill Park along with the likes
of Howie Brode, Chris Young, Sal Accardi Jr., J.R. Bertuccio, Chuck
Steuer, Wayne Anderson, Dan Jivanelli and Frank Vigliarolo Jr.
The Charger and Blunderbust divisions will both race in their second
double point race of 2006 and both classes are scheduled for heat race
qualifying. Steve Ratti won the first 30-lap race of ’06 for the
Chargers while the first 30-lap Blunderbust race of the year was not run
as of press time and was set for May 20th.
Rounding out the five for one program will be the Late Models and
Figure Eights.
Time trials for the NASCAR Modifieds will start the qualifying
procedure at 4:00 pm and main event racing will take the green flag at
6:00 pm. For additional information please call Riverhead Raceway at
