HEAVY RAIN WIPES
OUT
RIVERHEAD RACING SATURDAY
The Riverhead
Raceway lived up to its name Saturday when all day heavy rains
turned the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series facility into a virtual river.
Promoters Barbara and Jim Cromarty made an early decision to cancel
the night’s racing.
The 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby along with the New York State
Fraternal Order of Police night set for this past Saturday will now
both take place on Saturday evening, July 8th. The annual Barrasso
& Sons Mason Supplies Ernie Maynor Memorial Figure Eight race will
be made up later in the season on a date to be announced later in
the week once track officials confer about a suitable night.
This Saturday night, July 1st, Bay Fireworks will present the
huge Independence Day Spectacular to light up the night sky over the
track. A Police Car Demolition Derby and One on One Spectator Drags
will join the Cromarty Cup 50 for the NASCAR Modifieds, Figure
Eights, Chargers and Blunderbusts.
Time trials for the Modifieds will go green at 4:00 pm with
feature event racing at 5:30 pm. In the event of rain Saturday the
entire July 1st show will be presented Sunday July 2nd with the same
time schedule in effect.
