On Sunday, August 27, Riverhead Raceway will open
their gates to the annual Old Timer’s Day. Traditionally, the show
would consist of antique racecars which graced the Long Island Racing
Scene. However, this year all vintage cars, racecars, and fire trucks
are sought with the addition of many new festivities.
Old Timer’s Day, the day we honor the past with
antique racecars and the drivers that drove them, has taken a new
twist. This year in addition to the antique racers and drivers, the
show will also focus upon firefighting and fire department racing.
Antique fire engines and equipment are all welcome. A Jaws of Life
competition will take place as well. All fire departments and drill
teams are encouraged to join. Its $20 to enter the competition and
trophies will be awarded to the winners.
In addition to Old Timer’s Day, antique racecars
and tow trucks from around the Northeast are always welcome.
