CARQUEST AUTO PARTS TOM BALDWIN MEMORIAL
BOASTS $5,775 IN LAP MONEY

    With the CARQUEST Auto Parts Tom Baldwin Memorial 77 just days away at Riverhead Raceway it was announced today that five complete sets of laps have been sold adding $5,775 in lap money to the prestigious race. A healthy purse of $10,845 has been posted by promoters Barbara and Jim Cromarty and race sponsor CARQUEST Auto Parts pushing the race over the $16,620 mark.
    The 77-lap race will features time trial qualifying with the driver who sets fast time receiving a fast time award of $100 from JYD Enterprises, the Hoosier Tire dealer at the quarter mile oval. The race will pay the winner a base $1,600 share of the purse before any lap or other bonus money is factored in. Lap money will be spread generously through the field with the format to be announced Saturday night prior to the race.
    “Anyone who raced against or knew Tommy wants to win this CARQUEST Auto Parts Tom Baldwin 77 just because it has his name on attached to it” Riverhead Chief Steward Bill Denniston noted. “However with all the purse money and lap money this race has also become the best paying Saturday night NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series race on our schedule so doing well or winning it will pay dividends also”.
    Wayne Anderson of Yaphank a close friend of Tom Baldwin since youth won the 2005 edition of the race taking control of the race on lap 61 from John Fortin after a classic short track NASCAR Modified battle. Fortin hopes to make a rare start in the race and other drivers seeking the victory will be Bill Park, Chuck Steuer, Dan Jivanelli, J.R. Bertuccio, Sal Accardi Jr., John Denniston, Mike Andrews Jr., Frank Vigliarolo Jr., Dave Sapienza, Tracey Christiansen and Tom Rogers Jr.
    This will be a night not to be missed if you’re a die-hard fan of the open wheel NASCAR Modifieds who will be joined by the Late Models, Figure Eights Chargers, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks. The Figure Eights will run the Barrasso & Sons Mason Supplies Ernie Maynor Memorial, while the Charger race for the B. Sexton Site Development trophy.
