RIVERHEAD RACEWAY
SUFFERS
THIRD RAINOUT OF ’06 SATURDAY
Just as the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series stock cars were set to hit
the Riverhead Raceway for practice Saturday afternoon rain swept
across Long Island forcing Barbara and Jim Cromarty to call a halt
to the activities for the night. Just the first round of Blunderbust
warm-ups got on the track with the rain hitting as they were
circling the track.
Once again Mother Nature forces some shifting of the schedule in
the weeks to come. First the Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac night set
for this past Saturday now will be presented on August 12th. The
4-Cylinder Enduro set for under the lights this past week will not
be made-up, but drivers pre-registered are now credited for Sunday
August 6th.
The Mini-School Bus Demolition Derby now has a rain date of
August 26th, which also happens to be the rain date for the Full
Size School Bus Demolition Derby, which will take place August 19th.
If the Full Bus Demo rains out that race has first priority for the
August 26th rain date.
As of press time the Allstate night as part of the NASCAR Dodge
Weekly Series has not been rescheduled but the Safelite Auto Glass
Night for the Late Models has been rescheduled for Saturday,
September 2nd.
This Saturday night it’s the $16,000 plus CARQUEST Auto Parts
Tom Baldwin Memorial 77 for the NASCAR Modifieds highlighting a six
for one program.
Time trials for the Modifieds are set for 4:00 pm and feature
event racing is set for 5:30 pm.
