Jeff Walls and Harry Sager
Notch NEETS “Frankenduro” Victories
St. Johns, PA- Despite
heavy rain the night before, plenty of drivers took the opportunity to race
in the ABC Car Crushing NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series “Frankenduro”
Saturday at Mountain Speedway, which was dedicated to the series friend, Bob
Wickersheim, who passed away in September. When it was all said and done,
Harry Sager claimed not only the win in the “TRUX” division, but he also
walked away with the gold in the four cylinder enduro. Jeff Walls cruised
to the checkers in the 6/8-cylinder division for his first NEETS win.
Richard Petey grabbed
the lead from pole sitter, Joe Helberg before a single lap was complete in
the 100-lap Cascioli Roofing 6/8-cylinder event. Only two circuits later,
Howie Bott grabbed the top spot. Both Petey and Bott swapped the top spot
multiple times until Robin Schewire worked into the lead on lap seventeen.
Only one red flag slowed the event when Wayne Geiss and Jimmy White, Jr.
tangled on the front stretch. Both drivers were uninjured, but did not
continue. When the race restarted, Jeff Walls grabbed the lead and set a
torrid pace with his front wheel drive six-cylinder machine. Despite a late
race charge from Tim Pauch, Walls (Ridley, PA) took the checkers enroot to
his first NEETS victory over Pauch, Schewire, Bott and Keith Bissinger.
Ray Voss started from
the pole in the 50-lap NEETS Custom Classic TRUX enduro and led the first
lap. Harry Sager made a pass for the lead and held it for the next ten
circuits. Rob McCormick got by Sager for the top spot on lap eleven and
appeared to have the truck to beat. Both McCormick and Sager swapped the
lead a number of times until lap nineteen. From that point on, McCormick
began to distance himself from Sager, Terry Stiles, Bobby Pease and Jim
Badalato. With only nine laps remaining, McCormick spun while exiting turn
two. With nowhere to go, Voss collided with McCormick and both drivers
retired from the event. In the right place at the right time, Sager
(Hanover Twp, PA) assumed the lead and drove off to his very first NEETS
TRUX victory over Stiles, Pease, Badalato and Woot Lawrence.
Luke Colleran jumped out
front in the Steel Seal 4-cylinder enduro after starting on the pole.
However, Harry Sager lurched into the lead the next lap and brought Joe
Grocholski and Robin Schewire past Colleran. With twenty laps in the books,
Grocholski grabbed the lead, but Sager fought back and regained it only five
laps later. The red flag flew on lap fifty when Sam Ryan’s car sat still on
the front stretch. When green flag racing resumed, Schewire took the lead.
However, Sager grabbed the top spot back when Schewire and Gwen Sakowski
tangled in turns three and four. Despite numerous attemps from Grocholski,
Sager made it two for two on the day and garnered the win over Grocholski,
Schwire, Sterling Kepner and Luke Colleran.
The NEETS charity of choice
for the event was the Ronald McDonald House. One dollar from each general
admission will be donated to the cause.
The next ABC Car Crushing
NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series event is the “Mutha of all enduros” weekend,
which will be the final points event of the season. Sponsored by Drews
Enterprises, double points are on the line for all NEETS divisions, PLUS the
winner’s cars will be crushed in victory lane after the events (except the
TRUX winner). All of the action will begin on Saturday, November 18th with
inspection, qualifying and the NEETS TRUX will compete for the $1,000
prize. Sunday will showcase two 200-lap enduros for the Cascioli Roofing
6/8 cylinders, along with the Steel Seal four cylinders. If 100 or more
cars are registered in each division for Sunday’s races, the winner will
take home $3,000! For further information regarding the NEETS series,
