Kids on Track
for North-South Shootout Pedal Car Challenge This Weekend
Lexington,
NC (October 30, 2006): Big guns like John Blewett III and Woody Pitkat will
not be the only ones to vie for dominance at the famed tri-oval at Concord
Motorsport Park during the running of the 4th Annual North-South Shootout
TM
this weekend. The "cap guns" of the Shootout will get their opportunity to
race for the pride and prestige of a Shootout win as well.
Rather than horsepower, these young racers will use pedal-power. For the
third year, C&C Racing Promotions proudly presents the "Little Shootout". A
handful of children ranging in age from three- to seven-years of age
(depending on their size) will be invited to race vintage pedal cars on the
front stretch.
These nostalgic pedal cars are replicas of "Ole Blue" the legendary Boehler
Racing #3, the Hillbilly Racing #79 being driven by Chuck Hossfeld, the #41
of Jay Hedgecock, Tim Brown's beautiful Hayes Jewelers #83, Junior Miller's
Advance Auto Parts #69, and the Brady Bunch #00 driven this year by Ted
Christopher. There are also replicas of "throwback versions" of the
Modifieds of L.W. Miller, Brian Pack's Sponge Bob Square Pants Tribute and
the #711 dedicated to Bob Polverari's "Last Ride" at the Shootout back in
2004.
"We are hoping to unveil the Blewett Brothers cars for the 2006
competition," said Chad Kepley of C&C Racing Promotions, car chief for the
entire Little Shootout fleet.
Children of fans and competitors alike are encouraged to participate in the
event. The "Posse" will meet at the start finish line at approximately 2:00
PM at the conclusion of the pit party on Saturday, November 4.
The race will commence at the start/finish line and will end at a designated
point a few hundred feet down the racetrack. The racer who reaches the
finish first will be declared the 3rd Annual Little Shootout winner.
Children's names are being taken to fill the nine seats that are available
for the pedal car race by calling (336) 250-4383 or (508) 847-0565. Entries
for the 3rd Annual Little Shootout will be taken on the race weekend as
well. Visit the red race operations trailer located in the infield pit area
or the red C&C Racing Souvenir trailer located in the grandstand area. The
spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Children must fit
inside the pedal car to participate.
A new champion will undoubtedly be crowned as the reigning and dominating
"sharp shooters" Ashley and Shawna Crowley, twin daughters of accomplished
Whelen Modified Tour crew chief Kevin Crowley, have both outgrown the
competition. The Crowley Family will retire undefeated.
The pedal car race is only one event planned for the two-day racing
extravaganza that is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, November 3&4, 2006.
The 4th Annual North-South Shootout
TM
will feature the Hoosier 100. The best Modified drivers from both north and
south of the Mason-Dixon Line will battle in 100-laps of green flag racing
on the famed half-mile tri-oval of Concord Motorsport Park. The popular
SK-Type Modifieds will be part of the excitement with a 50-lapper of their
own. The format for the fourth annual event will boast time trials, heat
races, consolation and non-qualifiers event(s) for both the Modifieds and
SKs. Support divisions include a combination event for the Pro-Four
Modifieds and the Four-Cylinders along with two divisions of authentic
vintage racing.

"C&C Racing Promotions is proud to continue with the tradition of the pedal
car race," added Kepley. "It is definitely a crowd favorite."
