Daytona 500 Winner Derrike Cope Making an Appearance

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ January 4, 2007 . . . The 22nd edition of Motorsports presented by VP Racing Fuels, the 2007 edition, will offer something for just about everyone. It will be 270,000 square feet of the plush Atlantic City Convention Center filled with more than 250 motorsports vehicles, more than 600 exhibitor booths displaying just about everything imaginable in motorsports and there will be opportunities for attendees to collect autographs, FREE, from nationally known racers and those who race on the local and regional level.
The three day show kicks off at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 12th and continues through until 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 14th. And when the show closes at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday there will be indoor auto racing action just down the street at Boardwalk Hall featuring the “Gambler’s Classic” for M&R Midgets (Three Quarter Midgets and 600cc Micros). Tickets are available at each event box office.
Topping the list of racers making appearances and signing autographs is 2003 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Matt Kenseth along with NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Todd “The Onion” Bodine, Nextel Cup Rookie of the Year Denny Hamlin, Nextel Cup veteran Dave Blaney,  rising young female NASCAR talent Erin Crocker along with National Hot Rod Association Funny Car standout Ron Capps.
Just added to this already impressive list is Daytona 500 past champion Derrike Cope who is a regular on the Nextel Cup and Busch Series circuit. He will be representing Sundance Vacations and will be meeting fans and signing autographs at their display area from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 13th. A complete schedule of autograph sessions and other information can be found at www.aarn.com.
NHRA Alcohol Funny Car driver Frank "Ace" Manzo, one of the most successful drag racers in the sport,  will be on hand in the Lucas Oil booth - with his car - to sign autographs on Saturday, January 13th from noon through 2 p.m. He'll also be at the show on Sunday, January 14th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Wrestling fans may want to stop at Big Jim’s Videos booth on Saturday, from 2-7 p.m. and all day on Sunday, to meet King Kong Bundy who was Hulk Hogan’s nemesis back in mid-eighties. Bundy also appeared in the Richard Pryor movie “Moving” and his stage name inspired the name of the sitcom family on the FOX network “Married…with Children.”
VP Racing Fuels, the presenting sponsor of the “mid-winter motorsports extravaganza,” will have a huge presence as their display area will feature Northeastern Modified stock car racing talents Ted Christopher, Billy VanPelt and Craig VonDohren. In addition, Jay Farnsworth, the new technical director for VP, will be in the booth, along with other VP personnel, to talk with racers, car owners and engine builders. They are able to talk about drag, dirt track and asphalt circle track racing plus motorcycles and more.
VP offers not only a variety of racing fuels but also has synthetic and specialty oils, a variety of additives, track adhesives, fuel testing kits and fuel handling equipment.
Many area auto racing facilities and sanctioning organizations will be part of the show and will offer information on their 2007 seasons. Many fans and racers use the information obtained at the Motorsports show to plan their seasons.
One of the most popular areas of the Motorsports Race Car Show for fans is the collectible area where fans can usually find some great buys on auto racing collectible items. And for the racer there is the huge hardcore racer section that offers everything from engines and haulers to safety equipment and more.
A big attraction of the show is the U.S.Tobacco Ms. Motorsports Contest that takes place at 3 p.m. on Saturday and for the youngsters there is the Big Wheel racing action on Sunday and the Big Wheels are supplied by show management.
So much to see and do during the Motorsports 2007 Race Car Show presented by VP Racing Fuels.
Show attendees will be able to purchase general admission tickets for the indoor racing events at the Motorsports 2007 box office thus avoiding what could be long lines at the ticket windows at Boardwalk Hall each night of the “Gambler’s Classic sponsored by Pepsi” indoor auto racing events.
Tickets for the indoor auto racing events may also be purchased in advance at the Boardwalk Hall Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations (800-736-1420 or ticketmaster.com) or telephone 609.888.3618. Complete ticket information for both events can be found at www.aarn.com.
Show attendees looking for the best place to park at reasonable rates are invited to check in at http://atlanticcitynj.com/pdf/parking_map.pdf
And fans looking for lodging during this huge motorsports weekend should telephone AC Central Reservations at 1-866-790-9934. Fans may also want to telephone the Quality Inn Bayshore Resort at 609.641.3546. Many hotels are selling out for the big motorsports weekend, but there were still rooms available at $89 per night.
