Daytona 500 Party Features Nextel Cup Car
It’s Back! Changing Times Pub of Farmingdale and
Changing Times Ale House of East Northport will once again be home to
one of the biggest Daytona 500 parties on Long Island. The Go for the
Green Daytona party will be hosted by Riverhead’s own Turn 1 Cowboys,
Steady Eddy of WBAB 102.3, and Scott Benji of WBAB 102.3’s Street
Promotions Manager. Raffles (including a pair of tickets to Pocono
Raceway), giveaways, Long Island Racing old timers, and a pit crew
challenge will just be some of the fun on hand for this year’s event.
The big fun of the day will be a pit crew challenge
at Changing Times Pub in Farmingdale before the 500, featuring a real
raced Nextel Cup car, the #45 Brawny Dodge of Kyle Petty. Kyle
Petty's raced Nextel Cup car is owned Mike Penso and is graciously
loaned for this event. The pit crew
challenge will feature many of Riverhead Raceway’s elite, such as 2006
Mountain Speedway champion – Eddie Brunnhoelzl III, 1998 Riverhead
Raceway champion – Howie Brode, 2006 Riverhead Raceway Runner-up Sal
Accardi, Jr., 2004 Riverhead Raceway Modified champion Tom Rogers, Jr.
and many more.
In addition, raffles will be conducted with
proceeds benefiting the Himes Museum. Marty Himes and the Himes museum
will on hand, along with fellow old timers Reggie Himes, Fred Sipala,
Ray Mortuano, Sal Accardi, Sr., and many more.
Special thanks goes out to the following: Oval
Speed Unlimited, Anthony DeMonte, Howie Brode, Bi-County Auto Wreckers,
Marty Himes, WBAB 102.3, Ursula Coppermith, Mike Barnikel,
LongIslandJam.com, and the many fans, sponsors, and contributors that
continue to make this the party to be at.
