SAFER
Banquet Set for March 10
Saturday night March 10th the members of the Suffolk
Association of Figure Eight racing will gather in a new location in
Ronkonkoma to honor 2006 SAFER champion Tom Kraft of Medford. The five-hour
affair, known over the years as one of the best parties in all of racing
will be held at the Beach Club Estate overlooking scenic Lake Ronkonkoma.
Tom Kraft not only will take home with him plenty of handsome hardware
and the lion’s share of the 2006 SAFER point fund, but will also be
presented with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Long Island SAFER Drivers
Cup. Kraft will join some very elite company in Tom Rogers Jr. and Roger
Maynor in receiving this perpetual trophy from John Wellman of Big Brothers
and Big Sisters of Long Island.
SAFER will also be handing out plenty of hardware and point fund checks
to drivers who placed during the 2006 season, with plenty of special awards
handed out for many deserving drivers, car owners, crew members and sponsors
for their efforts during 2006. Another very special moment will come when
the 2006 SAFER Hall of Fame inducts its newest members to the hall, which is
a virtual who’s who of Long Island stock car racing history.
To spice up the already entertaining evening there will be a five hour
open bar from 8:00 pm to 1:00, a hot and cold buffet complete with a
cocktail hour and a DJ for your dancing pleasure.
