Riverhead Raceway Announces NASCAR Modified Tire Policy
Riverhead Raceway co-chief
stewards Mike Cappiello and Jim Maggio announced today a change in the
NASCAR Modified tire policy that will be in effect starting with this
Saturday evening June 23rd. The NASCAR Modifieds will run in the Debt
Reduction Services event this week.
The top 15 drivers in NASCAR Modified points must start the feature
event on sticker tires, with teams bringing their cars to the impound area
where they will receive their tires directly from the Hoosier Tire area. The
impound area is the same where cars are impounded for time trial shows up by
the handicappers tower.
Cars will proceed directly from the impound area to the track for the
feature.
Any new spare tires will also come directly from the Hoosier Tire
compound to the impound area. Teams choosing to make use of used tires for
spares must bring those tires to the impound area prior to the start of the
feature race.
There is no need to return used tires to the Hoosier Tire area at the
end of the night. Only new tires that were not used as spares must be
returned to Hoosier.
The impound area will also be used as the pit area for the NASCAR
Modified feature.
Only those tires that are flat or have been damaged during the race may
be changed upon returning to the pit area.
Any question regarding the new NASCAR Modified Tire policy can be
directed to Mike Cappiello and Jim Maggio in person at the track or by
e-mailing them at
