Brigati
Appointed EKRA President
by Danielle McCormack
The
Eastern Kart Racing Association experienced a great crowd on hand for their
fifth
race of the season. Dave Brigati has taken over as acting President
of the EKRA and is
already working hard to bring more go-kart racers to the track.
Since
the beginning of the season Dave and his officials have been doing
everything they can to help the go-karts run more efficiently on a regular
basis. In the off season they had lengthy discussions about issues that
were brought forth to them from many of the racers. So far the changes
they have made this season are making a big difference and the go-kart
count has steadily been
rising. Dave is very lucky that he has a dedicated crew of officials behind
him. Dave admits if it wasn't for such people as Joe Orlando, Jack Orlando,
Sean Hansen, Cindy Brigati, Tom Bonsignore and Linda Solomito, things wouldn't get off the
ground. Dave said the good thing about these people is that they all have
some kind of background in racing. Either someone in their family was
involved in racing or is racing today. This
gives them a better understanding of the everyday duties at the track,
which in
turn
helps make his job easier and the day run better.
Dave
Brigati has a lot on his plate besides being the acting President of EKRA
racing go-karts. He also races the
Ambrose
#3 Modified on Saturday nights at Riverhead, which
on most weekends gives him double duty. As far as most people at the track
are concerned,
Dave and his officials have been doing a good job this season. Jack Orlando
also takes on double duty on these weekends, too. He races his family owned
#99 Late Model at Riverhead. We asked Jack why he comes out for the
go-karts on Sundays. His reply was that his son Kevin has raced go-karts
for a number of years, which
gave him some great experience before he got into his #99 Charger Car at
Riverhead. He said that he helps out on Sundays to give some of the kids
the same advantages that Kevin got and hopes that they would be the next
generation of race car drivers on Long Island.
If
Dave and his officials keep their game plan, there
will be definitely more people coming out to race and more people getting
involved in go-kart racing at Riverhead Raceway for EKRA. Keep up the good
work!!
