Four Wheels for Four Paws
(Port
Washington, NY) - North Shore Animal League America is racing into the
hearts of speedway fans on Long Island with the unveiling of its customized
logo on Car #44, driven by Riverhead Raceway fan-favorite Dan Jivanelli.
The
League’s logo, featuring a dog and cat wearing black and white
checkerboard-patterned collar, the recognized symbol of the racing world,
recently made its debut at the Riverhead Raceway, Riverhead LI, with the
more than 5000 racing fans on hand for an afternoon of thrilling action.
Jivanelli, a veteran Riverhead Raceway driver, has a following at raceways
in Pennsylvania, Connecticut and New Jersey, Competing since 1971, Jivanelli
started out that year at Riverhead Raceway in the Figure Eight Division, in
which he had his first career win. In 1973 he moved into the NASCAR
Modifieds Premier Division and since 1975 has won twenty career Modified
races at Riverhead Raceway. In 1989, he captured the big win, the Track
Championship.
Jivanelli said he’s delighted to add NSALA’s sponsorship logo to the display
on his car, hoping it attracts the attention of racing fans to the plight of
shelter pets needing permanent homes.

lives of nearly one million animals since its inception in 1944.
