T.S. Haulers Statement on the passing
of John Blewett, III
The T.S. Haulers team is in mourning in the wake of the
tragic incident that took the life of their Sunoco Modified driver, John
Blewett, III. The fact that this accident also involved the team’s Whelen
Modified Tour driver, John’s brother Jimmy, makes this disastrous occurrence
all the more devastating. The mishap took place at Thompson Speedway in
Thompson, CT Thursday evening.
Team owners, Eddie and Connie Partridge said, “Our
thoughts and our prayers are with the entire Blewett family, John’s
girlfriend, Crystal and her entire family. We’ve considered all of the
Blewett’s as part of our family since Jimmy first drove for us. It’s just so
surreal that in a blink of an eye how the future of people’s lives change
and how overwhelming this is to us.” The team has no comment of their future
racing endeavors at this time.
Jimmy Blewett idolized and loved his brother. Jimmy
convinced Eddie and Connie to field a second Sunoco Modified for John to
race at Thompson so they could be teammates this season. Jimmy has grown
tremendously from John’s mentorship as a result of that decision.
John was a hard-working family man who earned his
successes on the racetrack by the sweat of his brow. In an era where many
other successful drivers have risen rapidly by ways of a silver spoon, John
was a throwback to the way racing used to be. He worked just as hard in his
family’s business as he did to prepare the cars that he raced. John is
survived by his son, John IV.
John’s passing leaves a tremendous void in the Blewett
family; especially for John, IV and Jimmy. We join in their sorrow as we
have lost a friend, mentor and teammate. For such a man, a successful racer
and most importantly a great person to pass away at such a youthful age is
unbelievably devastating. Our condolences go out to all who mourn with us.
