Labor Day Sunday Racing News and Notes
by Tracy Chirico

Today proved to be nothing short of a beautiful day of racing, from all accounts I received.  The weather was more than cooperative, and racers were given one final Sunday opportunity to get their racing fix.  I was unable to be in attendance, but I will pass along some of the interesting news and notes I collected from some people who were.

The Super Pro Trucks were first on the card for their final Sunday appearance of 2007.  They will, however, run with the Enduro program again on Saturday, September 22.  The starting lineup consisted of 15 trucks.  Wayne Meyer started on the pole in the VanBrunt Plumbing & Heating #41, following back surgery earlier in the week.  After suffering mechanical difficulties through a good part of the season, it seems that Meyer may have finally shaken that monkey off his back, as he collected a fine 2nd place finish.  Frank Dumicich Jr. in the Stephanie McCormick Fund #42 took home the win, after starting 6th.  Rich Giordano made his first start of the season in the #7 and would have a good showing, as he started 15th and finished 6th.

The Enduro action started with the Grands, where Ray Fitzgerald would take home yet another victory in the #16. Bobby Pease in the BV Sprinklers #20 would drive his heart out to try and catch Ray, reportedly even breaking open some stitches in his attempt.  John Cozza in the #59 and Donny "Boom Boom" Oliver in the #58 would both have good runs, coming home 3rd and 4th, respectively.

Terry Stiles would start on the pole in the 4/6 Cylinder Truck Enduro, and he would go on to claim the win in the Terry Stiles Motorsports #4.  Other winners for the day would include Anthony Pizzo, who won both the 1st 8 Cylinder Enduro and the 4 Cylinder Enduro.  The 6 Cylinder Enduro was won by Shawn Wanat, while the final race of the day - the 2nd 8 Cylinder Enduro - was won by Enduro veteran Dominic Ranieri Jr.  It is my understanding that the red flag was displayed in both of the 8 Cylinder races - the first for the clock going out on the scorers, and the second for a car that had flipped on its roof in turn 4.  While I do not know who the driver was who was involved, I received reports that he was okay.

I need to thank several people who helped in the collection of both results and news today, including Linda Larsen, Cindy Johnson, Elaine Vollmoeller, Christie Wanat, Christine Healy and Kim Carpenter.  Walter Johnston will be back to providing the weekly race reports next week.  Happy Labor Day to everyone!
