This past Saturday night, for the first time
ever, Blunderbust rookies were honored as part of a special "Rookie of the
Year" contest sponsored by Joe Larsen and JTL Enterprises in honor of
the late John Kraft. A total of 10 rookies accumulated points during
the course of the season, and the top three were presented with checks, with
plaques to follow. The top three finishing rookies were Donny Oliver
(#05), Rob Bader (#5x) and Jessica Larsen (#29). For his efforts,
Donny Oliver was awarded $250, while Rob Bader collected $150 and Jessica
Larsen took home $100.
The contest created quite a buzz among those in
the large class of Blunderbust rookies this year. In order to participate,
all the rookies had to do was register themselves and display a JTL
Enterprises decal on the window post of their car. In each feature event,
the highest finishing rookie was awarded 10 points, the second highest
finishing rookie received nine points and so on down the line. At the close
of the season, Donny Oliver had accumulated a total of 138 points, followed
by Rob Bader with 119 points and Jessica Larsen with 112. Other rookies who
participated were: Jessica Cohan (#8), Caesar Cunaccia (#20), Anthony
Battisti (#15), Matt Greenan (#01), Terry Stiles (#41), and Rich Aquino and
Russ Kohler (#99).
"The award served two purposes," said Joe
Larsen. "One, to remember my uncle, John Kraft, and two, to keep all of you
coming each week. Both worked to perfection."
The top three will receive their plaques at a time and
place yet to be determined.
