Barbara and Jim Cromarty have announced that
the 2007 NASCAR Whelen All American Series champions will be honored on
Saturday November 3rd at the 31st annual awards dinner at the Polish Hall in
Riverhead. Also feted will be the five Enduro champions of 2007, along with
the Car Rollover Contest and Demolition Derby champions.
The annual “parade of champions” will be led by
Bill Park of Manorville who collected his third track title when he won the
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modified championship on the final night
of racing. Joining Bill will be “Dynamite” Dan Turbush of Riverhead who
scored his first ever Late Model crown, while Roger Maynor of Bay Shore will
be honored for his sixth Figure Eight championship. John Ellwood of
Riverhead who won the 2002 Charger championship as a car owner to Rusty
Turbush will be crowned 2007 Charger champion as a driver, with Tommy “The
Wildchild” Walkowiak of Ridge notching his second consecutive Blunderbust
title. Rounding out the stock car champions will be Danny Grennan of Glen
Cove who in 2007 scored his third career Super Pro Truck championship.
Thanks to the efforts of Cindy Johnson of Constant
Performance and Barbara and Jim Cromarty of Riverhead Raceway for the first
time ever five Enduro champions will be feted at the November 3rd awards
dinner. Bobby Pease of Medford won the Grand Enduro title, while Ed Brown
Jr. of Mastic was the champion in the 8-Cylinder class. Russ Jansen of
Medford won the 4/6-Cylinder title, while Shawn Wanat of Riverhead actually
won two championships in the 6-Cylinder and 4-Cylinder divisions. Constant
Performance of Medford will provide the Enduro championship hardware.
Brian Savoy of Lake Panamoka took the 2007 Car
Rollover Contest championship, and Michael “Cheesebox” Rommeney of Maspeth
won the first ever Demolition Derby championship.
In addition to the 2007 “parade of champions”
Barbara and Jim Cromarty will again distribute plenty of special awards to
the six NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions and the 2007-point fund
checks.
Tickets are priced at $39 per person with a family
style dinner being served by the Polish Hall staff. There is an open bar
available and under no circumstances are any outside drinks allowed!!
