The 2007 Long Island Automotive Swap
Shop will not only serve as a vehicle for Riverhead Raceway race
teams to turn unwanted inventory into racing capital for 2008,
but also benefit a treasured charity in stock car racing
circles. Event organizer Bob Finan when he announced the October
28th date for the swap shop also indicated that part of the
proceeds would go to the Victory Junction Gang Camp in North
Carolina.
The Long Island Automotive Swap Shop
will run from 10:00 am until approximately 4:00 pm and is a
virtual stock car and automotive flea market. Vendor space is
priced at just $20 per pit stall and for those looking to come
out and browse around the fee is just $8 for 6-years old and up.
The East End Kart Racing go-karts will be in action as they make
their run to the 2007 championships. For those coming to watch
just the go-karts the admission fee is just $8 as well, with the
normal pit fee in effect for the EEKR members.
Whether you’re looking to sell a
complete racecar or any part thereof the swap shop is where you
can reach your target market. Many teams over the many years
since it was founded by the late “Big” Bob O’Rourke at Islip
Speedway not only unload racecars at the event, but many also do
extremely well selling spare parts. In fact that is where the
most money changes hands.
Finan noted, “The event is not just
for those who race at Riverhead Raceway, but for all forms of
Motorsports. Street Rods, off-road vehicles and those looking to
sell NASCAR Collectibles come on out, you’re more than welcome.”
The donation from the Long Island
Automotive Swap Shop to the Victory Junction Gang Camp will be
made in the name of both Bob O’Rourke and “Tiger” Tom Baldwin.
In the event of rain the Long Island
Automotive Swap Shop will move to Sunday November 11th along
with the EEKR racing action. For further information on the swap
shop call Bob Finan at the Riverhead Raceway business office at
631-842-RACE Monday through Friday or e-mail him at
