Even with a brisk mid-60s day, it didn't
stop EEKR go kart races from heading out to Riverhead Raceway
for a day of racing fun. With only two races left after this
weekend, all the top runners are trying to keep their nearest
competitors at bay. According to acting President Dave Brigati,
“At this point you have keep out of trouble and still run hard
to stay on top. If not, it’s all over and your nearest
competitor is the new champion. There are still a few EEKR go
kart classes that are too close to call and anything could
happen in the last two races. If I were you, I'd make it a point
to be there. It's going to be an exciting ending to a great 2007
EEKR go kart season at Riverhead Raceway.”
In addition to all the great go kart racing
this past weekend, a Big Wheel race for kids between the ages of
5 years old to 9 years old was held. It was so successful that
the EEKR decided to schedule another Big Wheel race on November
18, 2007. So, kids if you’re between 5 years old and 9 years old
get ready to go racing. Tune-up those Big Wheels and its show
time at Riverhead Raceway on November 18.
Also this past weekend everyone got dressed
up and celebrated Halloween. It was unbelievable how many
different costumes there were. People dressed up from as things
such as Richard Simmons to an Army man. I was totally amazed all
the thought that went into the making of some of the costumes.
During the 45 minute break after the heat races and before the
main events, everyone got to go "Trick or Treating." It was
great to see everyone have so much fun. By the way, if you’re
wondering who dressed up like Richard Simmons, look our photo
gallery – you'll get a good laugh.
Finally, in the Lites, Dean Grunert, driver
of the VSJ Auto Sales/Interfleet, Inc. # 21 got around hard
charging Jason "Hollywood" Agugliaro, driver of the P&P Speed
Shop/Long Island Auto Body #69 on the last lap to get his first
EEKR win. Dean and his dad Vincent have been waiting a long time
for this win. Vincent said it’s not that we haven't have a kart
to win, we seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Luck
plays a big part in racing, and the same goes for go kart
racing. Congrats to Dean and his father Vincent for their first
feature win.
Lastly, Dave Brigati informed us that we
will have the results from the WKA race at Riverhead Raceway two
weeks ago, sometime this week. As soon as we get them, we will
post them along with who won the season championships. See you
in two weeks on November 11. Track opens at 7:30 am with the
drivers meeting following at 9:30 am. Don’t miss out at one of
your last shots at getting some excellent kart racing in.
