ATLANTIC CITY, NJ OCTOBER 28, 2007 . . . Registrations are
coming in at a very quick pace for the first annual Promoter’s
Summit despite the fact it is almost three months away.
The Promoter’s Summit is set for January 18-19 as part of the
three day Motorsports 2008 presented by VP Racing Fuels Race Car
Show set for the plush Atlantic City, NJ Convention Hall.
Jim Hunter, VP of Corporate Communications for NASCAR, will
be a keynote speaker. He will be sharing his thoughts about the
state of local short track racing and what promoters can be
doing to improve the sport, attract more fans and sponsorship
support.
NASCAR, for the first time in the 22 year history of the
motorsports show, will have a huge presence.
Area Auto Racing News columnist Guy Smith will certainly have
promoters paying attention when he talks about what he has found
wrong with auto racing events during his visits to more than
1,000 motorsports facilities. Smith will discuss what he and
other Track Chasers feel would help make the events better and
put more fans in the grandstands.
New Jersey’s Motor Racing Control Unit will be a part of a
panel discussion that deals with safety concerns. The State of
New Jersey has control of all auto racing events in the Garden
State. Additional panel members, including Hall of Fame sprint
car racer Doug Wolfgang, will be included in this important
discussion about safety which not be restricted to just New
Jersey.
Wiley, Malehorn Sirota and Raynes, a law firm, will be
talking about legal issues facing the industry and will be
taking questions from the audience. If you know the cost of
legal advice these days you know that this session could very
well pay for the trip to Atlantic City.
Veteran United States Auto Club scorer Barbara Hellyer will
offer her thoughts on transponders and manual scoring. She has
been involved in scoring for more than 30 years.
There will also be presentations covering sponsorship, group
rates, announcers, working with the media, crate motors, track
management software, concessions, community relations, using the
Internet, and more.
The Promoter’s Summit is FREE to one promoter/organization
official and a guest from each speedway or sanctioning
organization. In addition to the Summit there will be social
events, Friday night indoor auto racing and the Motorsports 2008
show.
Speedway and organization staff members are invited to attend
the Summit and can obtain registration information at
609.888.3618.
“We are really putting together a great two days of seminars
and presentations that will be of interest to the promoters and
their staff members,” said Summit organizer Ernie Saxton. “We
are still finalizing the agenda but we are very confident it
will be an information fill two days that will be worth
attending.
“I would be happy to hear from promoters with any suggestions
they have.”
