A full house was on hand at the Polish Hall for Riverhead
Raceway's annual "Parade of Champions." The top ten in points
from all six regular divisions were honored, as well as the Car
Rollover and Demolition Derby champions. For the first
time ever, the top three in points in each of the Enduro
divisions were presented with trophies, sponsored by Cindy
Johnson and Constant Performance.
The evening was kicked off with a keynote speech delivered by
NASCAR's Jerry Cook. Among the key points raised by Cook
was the fact that - in spite of the abundance of young drivers
nationwide - this year's champions at Riverhead all had years of
experience under their belts. Cook also presented the True
Value Mechanic of the Year award, which went to Joe Zeneski, a
member of "Krazy" Eddie Mistretta's #32 Blunderbust crew.
Following Cook's speech, the 10th through 2nd place drivers
in each division were presented with their point fund checks and
trophies. The Enduro
drivers then took center stage, ending in a special gift
presentation from the top three Grand Enduro drivers to Cindy
Johnson in appreciation of her efforts on behalf of Enduros as a
whole.
Following a dinner intermission, the annual "parade of
Champions" took place. The six regular division
champions were honored, as were the Rollover and Demolition
Derby champions, Brian Savoy and "Cheesebox" Mike Rommeney. Each driver was presented with a
championship trophy and plaque, as well as a Hoosier Racing
championship jacket. The final order of business for the
night was the presentation of special awards. These awards
