After having a real good meeting with New
Smyrna Speedway General Manager Terry Roberts, we are yet
another few steps closer to having everything in alignment.
All pre-registered Drivers and Vintage Car
owners will receive a free grandstand pass for the evening's
race program, highlighted by the “Richie Evans Memorial 100” for
the NASCAR Tour-type Modifieds. We will also be introducing our
attending drivers to the fans during pre-race activities, and a
chance to meet your favorites and collect some autographs and
pictures.
Vintage Car owners will also get some track
time to get a few laps on the high-banked, and recently repaved
˝ mile speedway. There will be a special parking area for these
cars, and you will not have to reload between the reunion site
and the speedway surface. Due to the lack of push-trucks, I’m
sorry to say that this portion will be limited to self-starting
vehicles only. These participants will also be introduced to the
fans, along with the history behind these machines. I guarantee
that there will be a wide variety of racing vehicles from the
past.
The concession stands will be opened early
to accommodate our reunion guests with food and drinks
available. They will also be opening the grandstand gates
earlier than normal, so that our group will be able to attend
the qualifying sessions for that evening’s races.
Make sure to bring your autograph books,
cameras, diecast collectibles, scrapbooks, T-shirts, or anything
else you’d like to have these heroes of our sport sign for you.
This event will be on Friday, February
15th, 2008 at the New Smyrna Speedway, located on the corner of
Hwy. 44 and County Rd. 415 in Samsula, Florida. The show will be
from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 PM. Hauler parking will begin at 9:00
AM, with the racing program starting at 7:00 PM.
