Riverhead Raceway will once again host its annual
Competitors’ Winter Meetings on Sunday January 27th at the
Polish Hall in Riverhead and today the time schedule for the
gathering was announced. Also Mike Cappiello and Jim Maggio, the
co-chief stewards, announced there would not be any changes to
the 2008 rules from the 2007 rules book.
The Competitors’ Winter Meetings will kick off at 9:30 am
when both the Blunderbusts and returning Legend Race Cars will
gather first. Then at 11:00 am the Chargers and Super Pro Trucks
will meet together until 12:00 noon. After a one-hour lunch
break the meetings will resume with the Late Models and Figure
Eights at 1:00 pm and be followed by the NASCAR Modifieds at
2:30 pm. The daylong meetings will conclude with the Enduro
meeting, which is slated to start at 4:00 pm and is open to all
forms of Enduro competition at Riverhead Raceway.
As in the past, the meetings are open to the driver of a race
team and one other team member or any combination of two race
team members if the driver is unavailable. The Polish Hall in
Riverhead is located at 219 Marcy Avenue and the meeting for
2008 will be held in the meeting room on the second floor of the
hall, not the main ballroom as in years past.
The Competitors’ Winter Meetings are being conducted to
discuss race and operation procedures for 2008, as well as an
updated code of conduct that will be strictly enforced during
the NASCAR Whelen All American Series and all other events at
the quarter-mile facility.
