13th Annual Long Island Daytona 500 Party Set for Feb. 17th

Long Island’s most traditional and biggest Daytona 500 party will celebrate its lucky 13th anniversary on Sunday February 17th when Steve and Tim Halpin along with Bob Finan host their annual get-together. The 2008 edition of the party will be staged at JC’S Restaurant at Pine Hills Country Club in Manorville.

“We really had no plans on moving the site of the party,” Bob Finan, veteran Riverhead Raceway announcer noted. “However Mike’s Place in Coram shut down operation in the early fall and we were forced to move.” Many Long Island race fans are already familiar with JC’S Restaurant at Pine Hills, as Tim Halpin’s band Groundswell has played numerous shows there. Over 300 race fans made the 2007 Daytona 500 Party the biggest and best to date and the 2008 bash might just be even better.

The restaurant owners John & Jenn Cavalieri will provide a free full buffet to race fans with doors swinging open at 11:00 am. The party will be hosted by Coors Light and will be graced by a visit from the Coors Light girls during the race with tons of promotional giveaways. As a drink special, JC’S will be offering $3 pint beers on both Domestic and Import beers.

A 52” television will be raffled off after the race has been completed.  Those smokers who want to enjoy the race on JC’S outside heated deck can actually watch the race on the TV one lucky fan will take home with him or her!  Inside, the spacious JC’S Restaurant features 12 HD Plasma Flat Screen TV’S to view the “Great American Race.”

Co-host Steve Halpin added, “Of course Timmy and I will be running our Daytona 500 pools once again and we urge everyone to get there early to get the prime picks. We’ll run as many pools as interest demands, but we ideally would like to have the final pool completed one-half hour before the start of the actual race.”

JC’S Restaurant is located at the Pine Hills Country Club on Wading River Road just one half mile south of LIE exit 69, or if you’re coming from Sunrise Highway they are 1-1/2 miles north off exit 59 of Route 27.

Almost anyone who is anyone in Long Island stock car racing will be at the 13th annual Long Island Daytona 500 party Sunday February 17th, make sure you are among them!
