Editor's Notes:
Over the course of years, we find ourselves developing
interpersonal relationships with those people we see and
associate with at the track. Sometimes, they even become our
friends. I just got off the phone with a fellow columnist, who
told me that - no matter how many times we find ourselves having
to report on the passing of people in our extended racing family
- this is never easy. In this case, it is particularly
difficult, as I have known Carl for many years. He had a
presence that you couldn't miss. He expected everything to be
"just so," but that was because he poured his heart into every
racing venture he was involved with. Carl Rackoff will indeed be
missed.
