This past weekend at Moroso Speed Park in West Palm Beach,
Florida; the biggest endurance kart race in the country was
held, the "24 Hours Of America," Put on by Endurance Karting (www.endurancekarting.com).
Over 30 teams were present from several nations, including
Mexico, Portugal, Canada, and Italy. Long Island native, past
karting champ, and USAC open wheel standout Kyle Bonsignore was
also entered in the event on a team not only racing for a win
but racing for a cause. Team "Racing for Honor" (www.racingforhonor.com),
was racing to raise money for United States War Veterans.
The race itself was highly competitive this year.
After placing 6th in first round qualifying, team "Racing For
Honor" was off to a good start in the race, which held many
surprises for the competitors. And after 24 hours of racing, and
a few inches of rain during the night time, team "Racing For
Honor" ended up with a top 5 in class and an 8th place finish
overall, even when mechanical difficulties hurt their chances of
a win. When Kyle was asked about the teams results after the
race he was a little let down, but happy nonetheless: "It was a
tough 24 hours, lady luck wasn't exactly on our side, but we
were still running 4th with 2 hours to go. Unfortunately a fuel
line problem set us back 10 laps and we ended up 8th, but I'll
be back next year, and I am going for the win!" Also the team
raised money for the veterans during the event through RedBull
sales and donations from competitors, but donations are still
being accepted at
www.Racingforhonor.com.
It was a successful outing for the team, and on behalf of
Kyle, and Racing For Honor, "Help those who help us," and donate
a few dollars to the veterans.
