Several years ago, veteran Charger driver Scott Lehmann made
the decision to relocate his family to Pennsylvania, taking
several cars with him to the family's new home. It was no
surprise to some when Lehmann's son, CJ, became a topic of
conversation on the PoconoThunder.net message board as an
impressive rookie in the Street Stock division at Mountain
Speedway. It has been announced, however, that both father and
son intend to return to Riverhead Raceway in 2008, fielding a
two-car team in the Charger class.
Scott ran in the Charger division at Riverhead for a number
of years, running both the #7 and the #16. His accomplishments
included a 4th place points finish in 2003. "It is my hope that
I will be able to run consistently and competitively, at a level
at or above where I was before relocating," Lehmann stated.
The team's focus, however, will lie with the younger Lehmann,
who plans to run for Rookie of the Year honors in the class. CJ
turned 16 last July, and had a successful season at Mountain.
His list of accomplishments includes a 5th place finish in the
Street Stock race during the 2007 "King of the Mountain"
weekend. It looked as though he would be a force to contend with
at the 2008 NELMA race as well, until a blown motor took him out
of contention.
"CJ adapted well to driving in the Street Stocks," said Scott
Lehmann, "and we fully expect that to carry over to the Chargers
at Riverhead. I have no doubt that he has a bright future, and I
will do what I can to pave the way for him."
The CSL Motorsports team is currently seeking additional
sponsorship for the 2008 season. Anyone interested in more
details about sponsoring either of these drivers can contact
Scott Lehmann at (570) 325-3052 or by email at
