With the help of experts in sponsorship, media relations and
racing technology, SpeedwayEXPO presented by Sunoco will offer a
full line-up of educational seminars for local and regional
racers over the weekend of February 29-March 2. Seminars will
begin on Saturday morning and run throughout Saturday, March 1,
and Sunday, March 2. A conference center has been set up in the
Mallary Building at the Eastern States Exposition grounds and
will be clearly marked. Seminars are free to all SpeedwayEXPO
attendees.
Racing journalists Shawn Courchesne of the Hartford
Courant and Travis Barrett of the Kennebec Journal &
Central Maine Morning Sentinel will join writer and
publisher Lenny Sammons of Area Auto Racing News and
Speedway Illustrated Editor Karl Frederickson on Saturday
from 11:00 to noon for “Media Relations: Grabbing Headlines.”
Mechanical engineer Paul Haney will provide an in-depth look
at the performance of racing tires from 12:30 to 1:30. At 2:00
PR agent John Snyder will lead a discussion of sponsorship
opportunities for local and regional racers with Frederickson,
corporate trainer Joe Clouatre and Carquest’s Rich Pallai.
Mike Miller, Technical Manager of Sunoco Performance
Products, will meet with drivers from 4:00 to 5:00 on Saturday
to discuss racing fuels and performance. And then at 5:00
Clouatre will return to the stage to work with racers on
“Effective Team Building.”
On Sunday morning, seminars resume at 11:00 with an
entertaining and educational demonstration of weight transfer in
a race car by Speedway Illustrated Technical Editor Doug
Gore. Simultaneously, ‘The Fastest Women in the Northeast’ will
be take their place in the seminar hall. This round-table
discussion will feature racers Renée Dupuis, Lori Jo (Rzeszutek)
Gould, Erica Santos and Tiffany Skias.
From 12:30 to 1:15 Certified Public Accountant Sharon Yuhas
will tackle the accounting and bookkeeping questions that that
plague racers as they try to run their race teams practically
and legally.
From 1:30 to 3:00 on Sunday, don’t miss “Innovations in
Safety,” when Tony Bartley of Fast Track Medical Response, Keith
Grant of Race Safety Innovations and Dennis Botindari of
Motorsports Safety Systems present new safety technology for
racers and tracks.
“At SpeedwayEXPO we hope to educate, inform and entertain

SpeedwayEXPO ‘08 presented by Sunoco is scheduled for
February 29 through March 2 in the Mallary Complex on the
grounds of the Eastern States Expo Center in West Springfield,
MA. With more than three acres of indoor space dedicated to
motorsports, displays will include local and regional race
tracks and association as well as vendors of performance parts,
safety equipment, accessories and apparel and memorabilia. In
addition there will be a full schedule of special events,
including autograph sessions, the Pit Crew Challenge, pedal-car
races for the kids and a host of special vehicle displays like
Tony Stewart’s "Smoke deVille."
