This
past week Riverhead Raceway co-chief stewards Mike Cappiello and
Jim Maggio met with TS Haulers president Eddie Partridge to
announce the tire compounds that will be used on the Hoosier
Racing Tires in 2008 at the quarter mile oval. The 2008 NASCAR
Whelen All American Series opens Saturday evening May 3rd at the
historic facility with a six-division program.
The
NASCAR Modifieds will find no change in compounds from 2007 to
2008, as they will again run 25.5 X 13.0-15 Mod 490 on the left
side. The right front will remain 27.0 X 13.0-15 Mod 490, while
the right rear will be a 27.0 X 13.0-15 Mod 505.
The Late
Model troops will find themselves on a new compound Hoosier for 2008 with
left side tires to be 27.0/10.0-15 1030X, while on the right
side it will be a 27.0/10.0-15 1040. Left on right side tires
must be on the proper side of a Late Model.
For both
the Chargers and Super Pro Trucks it will be an 8.0/26.5-15 950
on the left, while on the right it'll be an 8.0/27.5-15 960
Hoosier. Left and right side tries must be on the proper side of
the car/truck.
The
Figure Eights will have one tire for all four positions of the
car and that will be an 8.0/27.5-15 980 Hoosier Tire from TS
Haulers.
The
Blunderbusts will race a 26.5/7.0- 15 790 on the left, while on
the right it will be a 27.0/7.0-15 790. As of press time another
right rear tire was being looked at and if a change were made
that would be announced as soon as possible. For the
Blunderbusts left and right side tires must be on the proper
side of the car.
In
making the announcement Cappiello and Maggio did also state that
anyone who still has Riverhead Raceway approved tires from 2007
will be given ample time to use those tires this coming season
as a cost saving measure.
