The loyal competitors of the Riverhead Raceway Enduro series
will be racing for some very handsome hardware in 2008 as it was
announced that the Long Island CARQUEST Auto Parts franchises
will sponsor trophies for the top three finishers in every race
as well the 2008 championship hardware. The 2008 Enduro racing
got underway Sunday May 4th at the Barbara and Jim Cromarty's
historic oval.
"All the Enduro drivers and teams at Riverhead Raceway owe a
great deal of gratitude to Gene Burbol of Gene's 112 Auto
Service in Patchogue," veteran Riverhead announcer and public
relations director Bob Finan noted. "Gene came to me in January
about trying to line-up a trophy sponsor and when he called me
in April to tell me it was CARQUEST Auto Parts all of us at
Riverhead were very happy."
Burbol put the sponsorship program together with CARQUEST
Auto Parts Long Island district manager Lee Becker. The top
three in each and every Enduro race at Riverhead Raceway will
take home a handsome trophy from CARQUEST Auto Parts, who have
contracted the track's veteran trophy provider Racecrafts of
Shirley to manufacture the trophies.
Burbol, an Enduro racer himself noted, "this is a win-win for
everyone involved, the Enduro teams, CARQUEST Auto Parts and
Riverhead Raceway. We'll now enjoy podium style finishes for our
efforts."
Round two of the 2008 Riverhead Raceway Enduro Series is
slated for Sunday of Memorial Day weekend May 25th at 12:30 pm.
