As a way of saying thank you to the men and women of Long
Island's volunteer fire departments, Riverhead Raceway owners
Barbara and Jim Cromarty announced today any volunteer
firefighter in full uniform would receive free admission on
Saturday night June 28th. Five classes of NASCAR stock car
racing will be joined by a Car Rollover Contest and a Full Size
School Bus Figure Eight Race on this fun filled evening.
Thousands of men and women on Long Island serve as volunteer
firefighters in both Nassau and Suffolk counties, answering
alarms 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in all kinds of weather
conditions. It is that dedication that Barbara and Jim Cromarty
want to say thank you for and also let these local heroes enjoy
a night of fun and family entertainment.
Any volunteer firefighter in full uniform arriving at
Riverhead Raceway for the 5:30 pm show will be admitted free on
June 28th.
The Cromartys have planned two great family entertainment
attractions with the second Full Size School Bus Figure Eight
race of '08 on tap. Watching these giant buses try and maneuver
around the figure-eight course, while trying to avoid a crash at
the intersection is priceless.
The Car Rollover Contest finds competitors intentionally
flipping their cars over for points that will determine the
event winner and count towards the season long champion. This
event leaves fans young and old alike on the edge of their
seats, if they can sit at all!
The 600 horsepower NASCAR Modifieds will highlight the stock
car portion of the program and be joined by the Late Models,
Chargers, Super Pro Trucks and Legend Race Cars.
Spectator gates open at 3:00 pm for those volunteer
firefighters who want to arrive early with qualifying races at
4:30 pm and the feature event racing starts at 5:30 pm.
