Riverhead Raceway owners and promoters Barbara and Jim
Cromarty will host their annual salute to law enforcement night
Saturday evening June 21st in conjunction with the New York
State Fraternal Order of Police. On the racing menu for the
night will be a full slate of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series
action with an 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby and School Bus Figure
Eight race to highlight the card.
Once again the New York State Fraternal Order of Police has
lined-up in excess of 20 local law enforcement agencies who will
participate during an on-track ceremony to salute their efforts.
Suffolk County, Nassau County and New York City Police
Departments will be among those honored for their heroic
accomplishments, with some vintage police vehicles to join the
current day fleet.
The annual Ernie Maynor Memorial presented by Barrasso & Sons
Mason Supplies for the Figure Eight division will take center
stage as Riverhead Raceway continues to "remember the wrench"
Ernie Maynor who lost his life in a 1982 accident at Islip
Speedway. Ernie's son Roger Maynor of Bay Shore, the leading
all-time winner of features events at Riverhead will lead the
likes of Mike Mujsce, Ken Hyde, Ralph Tasso, Tom Kraft, Paul
Specht, Tom Graff and Tom Ferrara into action.
Also on the NASCAR stock car portion of the show will be the
NASCAR Modifieds, Chargers and Blunderbusts, with the "Mod
Squad" racing 35 laps, while the Chargers and Blunderbusts go 20
circuits.
A bone jarring, car destroying 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby
will conclude the night's activities hot on the heels of another
wild and wooly School Bus Figure Eight race.
