Year by year the Independence Day spectacular presented by
Barbara & Jim Cromarty at Riverhead Raceway gets bigger and more
spectacular and such will be the case on Saturday evening July
5th at the historic quarter mile oval. A huge aerial Fireworks
display will light up the night sky and a Police Car Demolition
Derby will bring the show to a rousing conclusion.
Long Island based and award winning pyrotechnic firm Bay
Fireworks will again provide the display. Every time they have
returned to Riverhead to do the show it has gotten bigger and
better. A backdrop of music mixed by Bay Fireworks will further
compliment the program.
On the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series card will be the
annual Cromarty Cup 50 for the NASCAR Modifieds, their second
extra distance and double point race of the 2008 campaign. Time
trials will determine the starting grid for the all-important
feature event. Joining the NASCAR Modifieds are the Figure
Eights, Chargers Blunderbusts and the Saturday night debut of
the One-On-One Spectator Drags.
After all the racing and Independence Day Fireworks have been
completed it will be time to wreck some cars in a Police Car
Demolition Derby. This is open to all comers and pays the
regular Riverhead Raceway Demolition Derby purse and points
towards the 2008 championship. Those who compete in the event
are asked to paint their car in a Police Car theme.
Qualifying will start at 4:30 pm and the feature events will
go green at 5:30 pm Saturday July 5th, with July 12th serving as
the rain date for the show. For additional information please
